Fiji’s sprint sensation, Banuve Tabakaucoro is all psyched up for a good outing at the IAAF World Athletics Championship in China.
Tabakaucoro left the country yesterday and is chasing a 2016 Rio Olympics qualification time in the 100-metres event.
Tabakaucoro says he will only take part in the 100-metres event and he is well prepared for the challenge in China.
He holds the Pacific record of 10.22 seconds and needs to clock 10.16 seconds to hit the Rio Olympics qualification.
Meanwhile, Digicel Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Darren McLean says as his sponsors they wish him all the best in his event in Beijing.
McLean says Olympic and World champion, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt will be the top tip to win the gold medal and they hope Tabakaucoro can meet him either prior to or post-race and share some tips with him.
Tabakaucoro will take part in the 100m preliminary and heats on Saturday which is the opening day of the World Championships while the semifinals and the final will be run on Sunday.
