Tabakaucoro crowned Sportsman of the Year
South Pacific sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro was crowned as the Fiji Sportsman of the Year last night at the Fiji Sports Award held at the Vodafone Arena.

Scooping the Sports woman of the year Award was Power Lifter Sainimili Turner.

Guest Speaker and Vodafone Fiji Bati captain Petero Civoniceva was overwhelmed with the athletes and their achievements. 

While addressing the different sporting bodies, the former Kangaroo rep said that every time he wears the Australian jersey, he feels that he is representing Fiji and Australia. 

Civoniceva added that Fiji has produced alot of talented players in the international arena with a set of quality skills and who hold a lot of pride for the nation.

Other winners from last night include the National Coach of the Year which was won by Josefa Vueti from Weightlifting, Sports Photographer was won by Ivamere Rokovesa from Fijitimes,  Young Female Athlete of the year was won by Ulina Sagone while the Young Male Athlete was won by Menash Fareed for Chess.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who was the Chief Guest said sports is one of the main source of revenue for the country.
