The defending champion of the Dubai 7s, South Africa has named two Springbok players in their 12 man squad for the Dubai and Cape Town 7s.
Newly signed Kings wing and scrum‑half Francois Hougaard and the Stormers inside centre Juan Leon de Jongh are the two players who will be making the transition to sevens rugby.
Francois Hougaard played for the bulls in super rugby last season.
The two players are an added boost to the South African side that also includes the newly‑crowned World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year, Werner Kok, Cheslin Kolbe, Seabelo Senatla, Cecil Afrika, Justin Geduld and Ryno Benjamin.
The side will be captained by Kyle Brown.
It also includes Philip Snyman, Kwagga Smith and Chris Dry
Veteran Frankie Horne has not been named in the squad.
The players not considered because of injury are Branco du Preez, Warren Whiteley and Oupa Mohoje.
South Africa is pooled with Scotland, Samoa and Russia in the Dubai Sevens.
Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji Sevens team will depart for Dubai at 4.30 this afternoon.
Fiji will meet Canada in their first pool match of the Dubai 7s at 6 pm next Friday.
They will then take on Japan at 9 pm next Friday before facing Argentina at 3.28am next Saturday.
