Celebrations are spreading across Spain after its national football team won its first FIFA World Cup this morning beating Netherlands
1-0.

Spain's Andres Iniesta finally broke the deadlock with minutes from the final whistle.

An estimated 300,000 people forming a sea of red and yellow packed Madrid's downtown boulevard to watch the match live on giant TV screens and erupted at the final whistle as Spain defeated Netherlands in Johannesburg.

With winning the FIFA World Cup for the first time, Spain has also become the only European nation to win outside its own continent.

In a game when a record number of 14 yellow cards were given and Netherlands playing one man down in extra time, Andres Iniesta netted in the 116th minute to give European champions Spain their first FIFA World Cup title.

Speaking at a press conference, Iniesta said this was their toughest match.
