The Kenya 7s team has announced that former player Innocent Simiyu will be their new 7s head coach taking over from Benjamin Ayimba.
Samurai Baracudas coach Sailosi Naiteqe Senior had confirmed to Fijivillage last Friday that the Kenyan Rugby Union had chosen him for the position.
Naiteqe had said that he would need to look at the details of the contract.
After discussions and consultation, the Kenyan Rugby has opted for their former player Simiyu who was the second choice for the coaching position.
Naiteqe Senior told Fijivillage this morning that he respects their decision and is happy to be recognized at the national level.
Simiyu has signed a two‑year contract after coming out on top of the list during the interviews.
