The former Cronulla, Maroons and Kangaroos superstar has had his sights set on the NFL since he worked out for scouts with Jason Taumalolo back in 2016.
The seeds of his ambition were born on that fateful trip to Los Angeles following the Sharks’ 2016 Grand Final win over Melbourne.
In November 2016 after he had helped the Sharks claim their maiden NRL title with a win over the Storm, Holmes flew to Los Angeles with Jason Taumalolo.
The pair underwent a two hour workout before pro scouts from the NFL, to test their skills in American football.
Holmes admits it was the event that started his NFL ambition and eventually led him to quitting the NRL two years later.
