Fiji born winger, Sevuloni Reece scored a hat trick to help Waikato defeat Wellington 43-31 in the Mitre 10 Cup last night.
Reece barged through Wellington's line to break the deadlock to score four minutes into the match as Waikato ran out to a 12‑0 lead.
Other tries from Waikato were scored by Jordan Manihera, Raniera Takarangi and Samisoni Taukei'aho.
Late tries to Matt Proctor, Tuitama and Losi Filipo earned Wellington a losing bonus point, but it did little to take the shine off Waikato's return to winning ways.
Meanwhile, earlier this year Reece signed a contract with Irish club Connacht.
The 21‑year‑old has been in Chiefs development squads in recent years but has never quite cracked Super Rugby since making his mark in his debut season with the Waikato in 2016.
