Wardens defeated Cross of Victory 17-12 in their first pool match of the Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7's at Lawaqa Park.
Cross of Victory had seven players from last years champions, Taveuni First Light.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s Saunaka 7s team laced with several former national reps had to work extra hard to beat the Tovolea 7s team 12-5 in their opening match.
Saunaka led 12-nil at halftime.
Kitione Taliga, Vatemo Ravouvou, Pio Tuwai, Masivesi Dakuwaqa and Nacanieli Batina are playing for the Saunaka 7s team.
In other results, Shipping Services Suva Stallions defeated Ravuka Sharks 24-19 while Lomavata Blues beat Outrigger 17-5.
