Samurai Barracudas coach Sailosi Naiteqe Senior has been chosen by the Kenya Rugby Union to be the Head coach of the men’s 7s team.
Naiteqe has confirmed to Fijivillage that he was one of the five candidates short listed for the position and they interviewed him last Friday.
He says Kenya Rugby Union contacted him last night to say that he has been chosen as the new Head coach of the Kenya men’s team.
Naiteqe says he will have a discussion with the Kenya Rugby Union about his contract next week.
Naiteqe would now be Kenya's third foreign coach in the last four years.
England's Mike Friday handled the team for the 2012-13 season with South African Paul Treu in charge for the 2013-14 season.
Fourteen coaches had applied to be the head coach of the Kenya men’s 7s team.
There had been conflicting reports earlier in the week linking former All Blacks 7s coach Sir Gordon Tietjens as the next Head coach of the men’s 7s team.
Meanwhile Tietjens has been confirmed as the new Samoan 7s coach.
