Dethroned world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr has made more stunning confessions in the aftermath to his recent disappointing loss to Anthony Joshua.
Ruiz admitted that he was guilty of looking past Joshua and was caught up in the fame and fortune of being the king of boxing for a short while.
Ruiz floored Joshua four times in New York to earn a stunning technical knockout win in June but failed to repeat his performance in Saudi Arabia last weekend, surrendering the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles.
Ruiz told Boxing Scene that he thought the fight would be the same one as their fight in June.
He also revealed that he did not perform to his best during the fight which he thought that could have been handled if he had trained harder.
Ruiz also stated that he had receive warnings from his father and his trainer, Manny Robels, about his attitude.
Ruiz’s father stated that it was clear that Ruiz was hit by the fame and was getting the wrong advice from friends and people he was hanging with.
