Roy not named in Fiji soccer team to face Solomon Islands

Vodafone Fiji Soccer Team named to face Solomon Islands

Roy Krishna is not part of the Vodafone Fiji Soccer Team that will take on Solomon Islands in the International Friendly tomorrow.

Fiji Football Associations CEO Mohammed Yusuf says Krishna will join the squad tonight however he will not play tomorrow as he is on a break.

Yusuf says they looking at Krishna to start in the second match on Sunday.

Players who have been named in the national team are Benamino Mateniqara, Tevita Koroi, Shaneel Naidu, Remueru Takiata, Kolinio Sivoki, Kavaia Rawaqa, Iliatia Tuilau, Vuniuci Tikomaimereke, Andrew Naicker, Laisenia Raura, Waisake Tabucava, Epeli Saukuru, Christopher Wasasala, Amani Makoe, Iosefo Verevou,  Dave Radrigai, Madhvan Goundar, Afraz Ali, Zain Lingham, Sitiveni Cavuilagi, Setareki Hughes, Ravinesh Karan Singh, Saula Waqa, Manav Permal and Napolioni Qasevakatini.

Vodafone Fiji soccer Coach Christophe Gamel has asked the fans to be positive as the players are contributing a lot to the team.

Ben will captain the team.

Meanwhile, Solomons lethal attackers, Benjamin Totori and James Naka are no strangers to Fiji as both have already played a lot of soccer in Fiji.

Totori used to play for Nasinu and Labasa while Naka was a regular with the Rewa soccer team.

31-year-old Totori says if picked in the starting 11, he will love to score against Fiji and knows there will also be crowd support for him.

Fiji will play Solomon Islands at 7pm tonight at the ANZ Stadium while the second match will be played at 3pm this Sunday at Churchill Park and you can catch the live commentaries of both matches on our sister station, Radio Sargam.
