The Fiji Swimming team has won their first gold medal at the Pacific Games.
20-year-old Cheyenne Rova won gold in the 200m Backstroke women's final while Fiji's Brooke Smith settled for a bronze.
Rova says she did not expect to win gold.
She says that she had to push herself in the last few meters.
Favorites Lara Grangeon from New Caledonia did not take part in this final as she was disqualified during the 200m Backstroke women's heat.
In the 200m Butterfly women's final, Tieri Erasito came second while Rosemary Rova finished in third place.
Fiji's veteran swimmer Caroline Puamau settled for a silver in the 50m women's Freestyle final while the Fiji women's team settled for a bronze medal in the 400x100m Medley final.
In Basketball, the women's team won gold after beating American Samoa 75-61 in the gold medal playoff.
The men's Basketball team is also through to the gold medal playoff after they beat PNG 82-52 in the semifinal. They will play Guam in the final at 5pm today.
In cricket, the women's team settled for bronze after they beat Vanuatu by 14 runs.
The Fiji men's Sailing team settled for a silver medal in the Hobie Cat individual.
The Fiji men’s soccer team will also play New Zealand in the Olympic Qualifier Final at 4.30pm today.
The Rugby League 9s competition Gold medal playoff is at 9 tonight.
The semifinals will take place at 3.40pm today.
Looking at the Fijivillage Pacific Games medal tally Papua New Guinea is leading with 35 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze.
New Caledonia is in second place with 22 gold, 22 silver and 17 bronze, Tahiti is on third place with 21 gold, 16 silver and 14 bronze, Samoa is in fourth place with 18 gold, 18 silver and 1 bronze.
Team Fiji is in fifth place with 12 gold, 21 silver and 17 bronze.
