Queensland Reds set to unleash Taniela Tupou

Queensland Reds are set to unleash Taniela Tupou ‑ aka the 'Tongan Thor' ‑ on the Crusaders during Saturday's Super Rugby pre‑season trial in Brisbane.

The 135kg‑prop burst to fame two years ago when clips of his ball‑running and try‑scoring exploits for Auckland's Sacred Heart College went viral.

He snubbed the New Zealand scene to gain a professional contract in Australia with a desire to play for the Wallabies.

Meanwhile the Reds play the Waratahs in their first Super Rugby match on the 27th of this month at 8.40pm.

The Blues will play defending champions, the Highlanders at in the first match of the Super Rugby at 6.35pm on the 26th of this month.
