But the Blues faded in the second half.
The Maroons who had two tries ruled out in the first half and frequently exposed the Blues defensively, hit back in the second half with two tries to Dane Gagai and one try to Corey Oates.

Jake Trbojevic scored a try in the 76th minute for the Blues but it was not enough for a win.
State of Origin Game 2 will be held on the 23rd of this month in Perth.
Last night, several Australian rugby league stars also boycotted the country’s national anthem.
NSW Blues players Cody Walker, Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo‑Carr and Queensland’s Will Chambers did not sing the national anthem which includes the controversial line “young and free”, lyrics that overlook the history of the indigenous community.
