For the first time ever a Fijian has been elected as a member of FIFA Council.
Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel has today been selected as a member of the FIFA Council at the OFC Extraordinary Congress which was held in Auckland, New Zealand.
Fiji FA CEO Mohammed Yusuf says this is a major achievement for football in Fiji and around the region.
Yusuf says it is the Council is the main decision‑making body of the organization in the intervals of FIFA Congress.
Yusuf says Patel will continue to be Fiji FA President.
Meanwhile Vanuatu Football Federation President Lambert Maltock was elected as the president of OFC for next four years.
