Wales born world-renowned rugby referee, Nigel Owens will be the man in the middle for Wales versus the Barbarians at the Principality Stadium tomorrow.

It is indeed a unique moment of history in the professional era, the first appointment of its kind sanctioned by governing body World Rugby.

Taking charge of one’s own team is a complete no-no under normal circumstances.

But, given this is not a Six Nations or autumn international fixture, the Welsh Rugby Union felt Owens would be the perfect referee for a special occasion which also marks Wayne Pivac's first game as Wales coach and Warren Gatland returns for a Cardiff farewell as boss of the Baa-baas.
