Oceania teams vying for spot in Olympic Games need to win Oceania Olympic Qualifiers competition

Oceania teams vying for a spot in next year's Olympic Games will need to win the Oceania Olympic Qualifiers competition that is currently being held alongside the Oceania 7s tournament at the ANZ Stadium.

The Oceania 7s tournament consists of 15 Men's Team and 12 Women's Team.

Men's teams that are vying for a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are Nauru, Tonga, Australia, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Solomon Islands, Samoa and Tuvalu while Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands, Nauru, Vanuatu, Fiji and Solomon Islands are competing in the Women's Olympic Qualifier.

The final of the Oceania 7s tournament will be determined by the winner of the Oceania International competition and the winner of the Olympic Qualifier.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men's 7s team is one step closer in retaining their Oceania 7s title for the fourth consecutive year, as they thrashed Niue 57-0 in their first match, thumped Japan SDS 31-0 and dominated New Caledonia 66-0.

The Fijiana 7s team who is hoping to book their spot in next year's Olympic Games in Japan has also been looking good in this tournament as they thumped Vanuatu 48-0 in their first match and thrashed Solomon Islands 75-0 in their second match.

The Fiji Men's 7s team will be taking on New Zealand at 7.26 tonight in their last pool match while the Fijiana 7s team will take on Nauru at 5.14 this afternoon.

The Oceania 7s tournament is currently underway at the ANZ Stadium.
