Fiji netball has climbed up three places to be placed number six in the world rankings, after the national side's recent performance at the Pacific Cup in the Cook Islands.
This makes it the only team sport in the country to be in the top six in world ranking.
They are now rated ahead of South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, Samoa and Cook Islands.
Netball Fiji's interim President Wainikiti Bogidrau said the rating is a great boost to the sport with only 12 months left to the World Netball Championship.
Bogidrau said this is the best ranking ever for the sport and equals their performance at the World Championship in 1999.
Bogidrau said the news has come at an appropriate time especially as Netball Fiji tries to rehabilitate and change the public perception about the sport.
She added the team, under the guidance of its coach Una Rokoura, must be commended for a job well done.
Looking at the world rankings for Netball, Australia is ranked number one, New Zealand are 2nd, England 3rd, Jamaica 4th, Malawi 5th, Fiji 6th.
