Nadi suspends 8 players, coach asked to step down ahead of Courts IDC semi-final

The Nadi soccer team has suffered a major setback as they have suspended 8 players ahead of the Courts IDC semi-final against Labasa today.

Nadi soccer President, Javed Ahmed confirms that players such as Ame Votoniu, Patrick Joseph, Josefata Malakai, Jone Ralulu, Vuniuci Tikomaimereke, Christopher Kumar, Husseni Khan, and Mataiasi Toma have been suspended.

He says they were suspended after they went drinking after the Nasinu game on Thursday.

Ahmed also says that he has asked coach Pranesh Amarsee to step down.

He assures that they have enough players to field a strong team against Labasa.

Players such as Rusiate Matarerega, Tito Vodowaqa, Vereti Dickson, Jeshal Kumar, Afraaz Ali, Rupeni Rabici, Peni Tuigulagula, Ratu Josevata Dugucagi and Rahul Krishna are expected to feature for Nadi.

Labasa will play Nadi at 4pm today in the first semi-final while Ba will face Suva at 6pm in the second semi-final at Prince Charles Park. The final will kick off at 4pm tomorrow.
