The Rugby League World Cup campaign for one of the Fiji Bati’s pool opponents has turned sour.
This is after reports have emerged of a brawl between players in the Italy squad which centered around NRL star James Tedesco.
Channel Seven reports the players were out drinking in Cairns following their shock 36‑12 loss to Ireland when Tedesco was hit by teammate Shannon Wakeman.
According to the report, Wakeman thought Tedesco had made sexual advances to his girlfriend.
Tedesco has since denied the claim to Italy team management.
Italy take on USA in Townsville on 7pm Sunday while the Vodafone Fiji Bati face Wales at 9.30pm Sunday.
