Former Flying Fijians flyhalf and Worcester centre Josh Matavesi has vowed never to put money before his country again and he wants to play for Fiji in the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
The 23-year-old said he regrets turning his back on the chance to play for Fiji in 2011 while he was playing for French club Racing Metro when he was named in the Flying Fijians squad for the World Cup in New Zealand.
Matavesi said he was keen to go but revealed that he was talked into staying in Paris by the club, a decision he now describes as “stupid”.
Matavesi added he is determined to represent Fiji in the 2015 World Cup and he admitted that he was put under a lot of pressure from the coaches at Racing Metro.
Matavesi has six caps for Fiji but has not played since appearing at Twickenham last year and he wants to play alongside his younger brother Sam Matavesi in the national jumper.
