Fiji born and Manawatu Turbos wing Semisi Masirewa has signed a contract with the Western Force ahead of the 2016 Super Rugby season.
Masirewa was one of the ITM Cup’s leading tackle busters and line breakers.
Despite injuring his ankle and missing the last three games of the ITM Cup, he is still ranked 13th in the competition for line breaks, 7th for defenders beaten and made 84 carries for 596 metres.
The 23‑year‑old who hails from Qamea, moved to New Zealand to further his rugby career in 2010.
After two strong ITM Cup seasons he had offers from three of the New Zealand Super Rugby franchises including the Chiefs, Highlanders and Hurricanes but decided to join the Western Force.
Semisi Masirewa is the nephew of former NZ sevens player Waisake Masirewa
He will join Solomoni 'Junior' Rasolea who is the other Fijian player in the Western Force.
The 2016 Super Rugby season will start on the 26th of February next year.
