Masilevu expected to shine in Las Vegas

Masilevu expected to shine in Las Vegas
Lomaiviti Barbarians winger and national sevens rugby hooker Benito Masilevu has been named as one of the top five players who are expected to shine in Las Vegas this weekend.

The 24 year old school teacher from Vakativa, Wailevu in Cakaudrove made his debut in Wellington last year on the wing but during the Gold Coast 7s last year, Ben Ryan used him at hooker and he has been performing in that role since then.

When questioned if he will use Masilevu ahead of Lepani Botia at hooker, Ryan said both are good players.

Masilevu scored 17 tries as a hooker and is the joint-top try scorer with Samisoni Viriviri.

Masilevu seems to be performing to the best of his abilities as there are comments coming in from the likes of Mike Friday and Ben Gollings about his performance.

The other four players that are expected to impress the crowd this weekend include Colins Injera of Kenya, England's Mike Ellery, flying Carlin Isles of USA and the crafty Branco du Preez of South Africa.

The USA 7s will kick off this Saturday and Fiji will play Scotland at 1:06pm before meeting Australia at 4:02pm.

The final pool game is against New Zealand at 9:50am this Sunday and the quarterfinals will start at 1:52pm on the same day.

The semifinals will kick off at 7:32am next Monday while the final will be held at 10:25am.
