Malani wins Sportsman award while Vaivai wins Sportwoman award

Meli Malani is the 2014 Fiji Sportsman of the year while Apolonia Vaivai is the 2014 Fiji Sportswoman of the year.

Malani, the Fiji Swimming nominee did not win any international events but continues to break national records and is ranked number 1 locally in five events.

He was not present last night as he is in the US training.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Vaivai won Fiji’s only medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She won a bronze medal in the women’s 75kg category.

She was also not present last night as she is currently in Noumea.

Other winners last night saw the National Under 20 soccer team win the 2014 Team of the Year Award, Powerlifting’s Eliesa Irava won Coach of the Year Award.

Communications Fiji Limited which is the Parent Company of Legend FM, FM96, Viti FM, Radio Sargam and Navtarang won the 2014 Photography of the Year Award which went to Nitesh Raniga.
