Malani and Buadromo expected to swim in finals today

2014 Fiji Sportsman of the Year, Meli Malani and female National swimming rep, Matelita Buadromo are expected to swim in the finals of the Oceania Swimming Championship at the Damodar Aquatic Centre tonight.

Malani and 20‑year‑old Buadromo are the favourites from Fiji to qualify for the Olympics.

19-year-old Malani will be competing in the men’s 50m Freestyle finals and he will try to make the Olympic qualifying time of 22.89 seconds while Buadromo’s personal best in the 200 metres freestyle event is 2 minutes 5 seconds.

Buadromo is trying to make the Olympic qualifying time of 2 minutes 3 seconds.

15 countries in the Pacific including Australia and New Zealand are competing in the 2016 Oceania Swimming Championship at the Damodar Aquatic Centre.
