Xavier College Sub-Junior athlete Shawntell Lockington, who broke the high jump record in her division to claim gold in the Coca-Cola Games, has been included in the Fiji Athletics team for the Pacific Games.

Lockington jumped over 1.66 metres and even surpassed the Senior Girl’s high jump record which currently stands at 1.65 metres.

352 athletes will represent Fiji in 26 sports in the Pacific Games.

Chef De Mission Cathy Wong said apart from soccer and rugby, they have received the confirmed names of all other athletes.

Wong said they are still short of close to $400,000 to reach their target and her marketing team is speaking to the government on this matter.

Meanwhile, Wong added there will be a curfew placed on the athletes in Papua New Guinea as it is a highly volatile area.

The Pacific Games will be held from the 4th to the 18th of July in Papua New Guinea.
