Former All Black Leon MacDonald has been named as a Blues assistant coach.
He will work with Tana Umaga, who has retained his job as head coach despite the fact the Blues languish at the bottom of the New Zealand conference having won just three of their first 11 matches.
MacDonald, who is the current head coach of Tasman, previously worked as an assistant coach at the Crusaders in 2017 but he sacrificed that job after just one season for family reasons.
MacDonald will move to Auckland following the upcoming provincial season, which will be his last with Tasman.
The Blues will take on the Crusaders at 7.35pm Saturday.
