The Wallabies are through to the Rugby World Cup semifinals after a final minute penalty by Bernard Foley secured a 35‑34 victory over Scotland this morning.
Scotland was on the verge of creating a stunning upset with 79 minutes on the clock, but referee Craig Joubert awarded the Wallabies a penalty for an offside play.
Scotland were outstanding as centre Mark Bennett's intercept try looked to have clinched an enormous upset, after opportunist tries from Peter Horne and Tommy Seymour kept them in the hunt.
The Wallabies attack was too dangerous as Drew Mitchell crossed twice along with Adam Ashley‑Cooper, Tevita Kuridrani and Michael Hooper, before Foley snatched back the lead with a penalty to win the game.
Meanwhile in another quarterfinal Argentina thrashed Ireland 43-20 this morning.
The All Blacks will take on South Africa in the first Rugby World Cup semifinal at 4am Sunday.
The Wallabies will take on Argentina at 5am next Monday in the second semifinal.
