He was only 17, when he played for the Nabua Broncos Premier rugby league team and was awarded the Rookie of the Year Award.
From soccer to Judo to AFL, rugby league then rugby union, Queen Victoria School’s fly-half Simione Kuruvoli is one player to look out for when QVS takes on Saint John’s College in the Coke Zero Deans semifinals this Saturday.
The 18-year-old from Nabouwalu, Ono Kadavu has played soccer to improve his kicking, participated in Judo which has helped him in defence, AFL to assist him with the high ball, played rugby league to gain brilliant passing skills and now he is applying all of it in rugby union.
Kuruvoli holds a blue belt in Judo and is the National Champion in 60kg category.
He played for the Suva Primary School soccer team from Under 9 to 11 before moving to Nabua Primary School to play rugby for Nasinu in the Kaji Rugby.
He was part of the Fiji AFL team that participated at the Oceania competition in Australia and played for Nabua Broncos in the Fiji National Rugby League competition where he received the Rookie of the Year Award last year.
Kuruvoli provides a lot of excitement and he will line up against Gideon Colata-na-tawake of Saint John’s College who was also outstanding against Nasinu Secondary School last weekend.
QVS will take on Saint John’s College at 4pm while Ratu Kadavulevu School will face Cuvu College at 2.30pm.
