Korovuto College dethroned defending champion Ratu Navula College in the Nadi Athletics Zone yesterday after winning the overall title.
In the boy’s division, Ratu Navula came first with 12 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze followed by Korovuto College with 9 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze and Swami Vivekenanda College finished third with 8 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze.
In the girl’s division, Korovuto college bagged 12 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze, Votualevu College came second with 7 gold, 5 silver followed by Nadi Muslim College with 7 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze.
In the Ovalau Zone, Saint John’s College won the overall title after winning both the boy’s and girl’s divisions.
Saint John’s finished first in the boy’s division with 19 gold, 16 silver and 21 bronze, Levuka Public School was second with 18 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze while Delana Methodist High School settled third with 11 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze.
In the girl’s division, Saint John’s came first with 24 gold, 15 silver and 17 bronze, Levuka Public came in second with 14 gold, 21 silver and 13 bronze while Delana Methodist came third with 7 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze.
Meanwhile, 28 records were broken at the Lautoka Zone meet.
Jasper Williams High School is serious about retaining their girl’s title in the Coca-Cola Games as they convincingly won the girl’s division with 28 gold, 17 silver and 15 bronze.
Natabua High School came second with 13 gold, 12 silver and 4 bronze while Ba Provincial Freebird Institute was third with 2 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze.
In the boy’s division, Natabua High School retained their title with 28 gold, 19 Silver and 11 Bronze, Ba Provincial Freebird Institute came second with 5 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze while St Thomas High School finished third with 2 gold, 8 silver and 8 Bronze.
Natabua’s Emmanuel Pegasus was awarded the best male athlete after breaking two records in the 1,500 meters and the intermediate boys 4 by 400 metres relay.
Jasper Williams’ Meresiana Vukici was awarded the best female athlete as she claimed 3 gold medals and also broke two records in the inter girls 800 and 4 by 400 metres events.
