“Knife on one hand, fork on the other”.
Those are the words Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s captain Jerry Tuwai as he inscribed those two words on his first ever pair of rugby boots.
In an interview with CNN, Tuwai’s mother Seruwaia Vualiku says Tuwai was given an option if he wanted to play rugby, and he would have to make a living out of it.
Tuwai says his parents motivated him to become what he is today.
Vualiku says Tuwai has made them proud as most children want to be like Jerry.
Tuwai is enjoying his second season as captain of the Fiji 7s team where they are currently leading the World Sevens Series under the guidance of coach Gareth Baber.
The national side are currently in camp to prepare for the London and Paris 7s next month.
Fiji is pooled with Argentina, Scotland and New Zealand in Pool A.
The London 7s will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of next month.
