India continued their dominance over rivals Pakistan with a rain‑affected 89‑run victory in what was termed as the biggest match of the Cricket World Cup.

Rohit Sharma scored a century as India move one place up on the group table.

The match had to be delayed for 55 minutes as players left the field due to rain.

This World Cup match saw a sell‑out crowd, one billion TV viewers and more than 800,000 ticket requests, but ended with Pakistan knocking the ball around in front of a half‑empty stadium.

India Captain Virat Kohli has become the fastest man to 11,000 One Day International runs ‑ 54 innings quicker than Sachin Tendulkar.

The top four teams from the group will progress to the semi finals.

Australia now lead the points table, New Zealand are in second place, India in are third place while England come in fourth.

The first semifinal will be played on the 9th of next month at 9.30pm while the second semi final will be played on the 10th of next month at 9.30pm.
