Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team Coach, Gareth Baber has admitted the loss of the Hong Kong and Singapore 7s legs due to the threat of coronavirus will make it difficult to include Josua Tuisova and Semi Radradra for Fiji’s Olympic Games title defence.
Baber told Rugby Pass that it is still possible but that window to bring them back is getting smaller because Hong Kong and Singapore were two of the tournaments Baber was targeting to bring the players back.
Baber says when you are speaking to European clubs, the profile of those legs and the logic of why you would do that trumps going to a mini tournament in the southern hemisphere or a camp in Japan.
Baber says that is where they make the most gains and while it’s not impossible, that window is reduced.
Meanwhile, Fiji is pooled with France, Argentina and South Korea for the Los Angeles 7s which starts next Sunday.
