If Steve Hansen's replacement was decided by online voting, new All Black Coach, Ian Foster would be in the dole queue by this morning.
Stuff.co reports that one Australian journalist went as far as saying the All Blacks' "rival teams will be relieved the Kiwis didn't give the job to Scott Robertson".
Thankfully New Zealand Rugby's (NZR) recruitment process is a bit more scientific than Twitter chat but their process is copping just as much heat online.
Even the man himself acknowledged he wasn't the most popular choice with the public but when you're up against a man who skateboards to training and breakdances, that will always be a tough popularity contest to win.
Many saw Foster, who has been an assistant under Hansen for seven years, as the safe option over the flamboyant Robertson who has some eccentric ways.
Several rugby scribes in New Zealand and around the world saw Foster as the continuity route.
But Mike Hytner from The Guardian wrote that Foster was the bigger gamble.
The Telegraph's Ben Coles said Robertson had every reason to feel aggrieved after missing out to Foster, with the two-year contract NZR offered to the latter hardly a "glowing statement of faith" in his abilities.
Scott Robertson is contracted to the Crusaders through 2021.
