Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s captain Jerry Tuwai says he had turned down two overseas contracts in the last two years and never regretted his decision ever since.
Tuwai revealed that his passion for Fiji and his love for sevens rugby has made him the rugby player he is today.
The 29‑year‑old who hails from Buca Bay in Cakaudrove played his 200th match in Singapore last month.
Since making his debut in 2014, Tuwai says playing alongside some experience players has moulded him.
He credited Setefano Cakau, former captain Osea Kolinisau and Isake Katonibau for helping him through.
The national squad broke camp yesterday and will return next Tuesday to prepare for the London and Paris 7s next month.
Fiji is pooled with Argentina, Scotland and New Zealand at the London 7s which will be held from June 2nd to 4th.
Meanwhile Fiji will play either Japan or Uruguay in their first match of the World Cup 7s on July 21st.
