Despite losing All Blacks first five‑eighth Beauden Barrett just before kick-off, the Hurricanes secured a home advantage in the Super Rugby playoffs as they beat the Lions 37‑17 at Ellis Park this morning.
His absence was barely noticed as TJ Perenara and Jordie Barrett's tactical kicking pinned back the home side in the first half and then Ben Lam and Dane Coles scored two tries each in a dominant second‑half performance.
Ngani Laumape also scored a try ensuring the Hurricanes victory over the Lions.
In other Super Rugby results, the Brumbies defeated the Waratahs 35-24, the Crusaders thrashed the Rebels 66-0, the Stormers defeated the Sunwolves 31-18 while the Jaguares thumped the Sharks 34-7.
