Winger Ben Lam and centre Ngani Laumape scored first half tries, giving the Hurricanes a 12 6 lead at halftime.
They return to New Zealand to face the defending champions the Crusaders next weekend while the Jaguares, will host the Waratahs in another cross conference match.
Meanwhile, in other matches, Crusaders beat the Stormers 45-28, the Lions overcame the Bulls 49-35, the Rebels defeated the Sunwolves 37-17 while the Waratahs and the Sharks played out a 24-all draw.
The Chiefs defeated the Blues 27-21 on Friday night while the Reds beat the Brumbies 18-10.
Fiji Airways Drua prop Kalivati Tawake also made his debut for the Waratahs off the bench in the second half.
