Hundreds of soccer fans, officials and family members are expected to attend the funeral of former Labasa and Fiji soccer team striker Simon "Maradona" Peters this afternoon.
Peters passed away last Tuesday night at his home in Nacula Village, Labasa.
Fiji FA chief executive Bob Kumar said Peters was a perfect role model for the younger generation.
Kumar said the sudden passing away of Peters is a huge loss to Fiji Soccer and he will be remembered as a "Legend" in the years to come.
He said his legacy should be a perfect motivating factor for the younger players in the country.
Peters who was a military officer began his colorful career in 1987 at the age of 17.
He played for the national under 20 side, was also part of the national side which defeated Australia 1-0 in 1988 and won gold in the 1991 South Pacific Games.
Peters will be buried today at 5pm in Labasa.
