A chance to defend the World Sevens Series title is still alive for the Vodafone Fiji 7s team but they will have to rely on other teams to stop South Africa from reaching the Medal quarter finals in the Paris and London 7s.
It looks impossible with the Blitzboks currently with 157 points while Fiji has 132 points.
To win the series, South Africa just need to reach at least the Challenge Trophy final for both tournaments.
The loser in the Challenge Trophy final will get 10 points which can put South Africa in a comfortable 177 points lead.
The Challenge Trophy final used to be known as the plate final.
The equation for Fiji to defend the title is to win both tournaments and earn 44 points but hope that South Africa do not reach both quarterfinals.
The national side started camp again today to go through their last week of preparations before the final 14 is announced tomorrow.
Fiji is pooled with Australia, Samoa and Russia at the Paris 7s which will be held from the 13th to the 15th of this month.
