The Highlanders will unleash Liam Squire from the opening whistle against the Bulls.
The All Blacks No 6 has not played a single minute of Super Rugby this year but the Highlanders have injected him straight into a much‑changed starting team to face the South Africans in Dunedin on Friday.
Squire, Josh Ioane, Jackson Hemopo and Tevita Li are all big inclusions for the Highlanders in the must‑win game while Josh McKay gets a massive opportunity in the No 15 as part of a quick back three.
In Super Rugby this week, the Bulls will take on the Highlanders at 7.35pm Friday while the Reds will play the Blues at 9.45pm Friday.
The Crusaders will take on the Rebels at 7.35pm Saturday while the Waratahs will go head to head with the Brumbies at 9.45pm Saturday.
The Stormers will play the Sunwolves at 3.15am Sunday while the Jaguares will take on the Sharks at 7.40am Sunday.
