The Hurricanes must wake from their slumber on Saturday, as they come up against the Highlanders who are the only undefeated side in the competition.
While the Highlanders have had three tough fixtures and passed them all with flying colors, the fact that the boys from Dunedin have not left New Zealand’s south island after the first month of Super Rugby has been a significant advantage.
The 2016 champions travelled around the globe in the first three weeks of this year’s competition and managed to knock over the defending premiers upon arrival in Wellington, before a well‑earned rest last weekend.
Looking at the overall Super Rugby standings, the Lions are leading with 19 points, the Rebels are in second place with 15 points while the Highlanders are third with 13 points.
The Hurricanes will take on the Highlanders at 6.35pm Saturday.
