Former All Blacks captain and New Zealand Rugby Union chairman Jock Hobbs has died in a Wellington hospital after battling leukemia.
Hobbs, 52, played 21 Tests for the All Blacks in the mid 1980s and was New Zealand Rugby Union chairman from 2002 to 2010.
He led New Zealand's bid to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup and as a result was named New Zealander of the Year in 2005.
Jock Hobbs family was at his side in hospital when he passed away.
