Fiorente has won the 153rd running of the AUS$6 million Melbourne Cup race in Flemington, Melbourne.
The 24 horse field was one of the strongest in recent memory.
The Gai Waterhouse trained Fiorente was the pre race favourite and this is jockey, Damien Oliver’s third Melbourne Cup win.
Oliver won with Doriemus in 1995 and Media Puzzle in 2002.
Red Cadeaux came in second while Mount Athos was placed third.
Gai Waterhouse is the first female Australian to win the race.
