The Telecom Fijiana 7s team came close to winning their first bronze medal but were edged 19-17 to Australia in the bronze medal final at the Japan 7s.
The Fijiana were leading 12‑0 at Half time with tries to Raijieli Dave-au and Mere-wau Cumu.
The national women’s sevens side dominated the breakdown and exerting more pressure.
Australia came back strongly to score a quick try in the start of the second half.
Lavenia Tinai scored another try for the Fijiana to take their lead to 17 but Australia’s Emma Sykes try gave them another hope.
With a minute to go, Australia’s Chloe Dalton shows her speed of a back snatch to claim the victory for them.
Meanwhile Miriama Naiobasali Vereivalu and captain Ana Maria Roqica made the Dream Team for the Japan 7's.
The Fijiana are still 4th on the Womens World Sevens Series table with 50 points.
They will head to Canada for their next leg to compete in the Canada 7's from the 27th to the 28th of next month.
