The Fijiana 15's team has won their first home test beating the PNG women’s team 37 points to 10 at the ANZ Stadium this afternoon.

Fiji scored six tries in the match.

Fiji led 13-5 at half time after tries to outside centre Litiana Lawedrau, prop Esiteri Bulikiobo and a penalty by flyhalf Merewalesi Rokouono.

Wainikiti Deku scored the first for Fiji in the second half and this was soon followed by Litiana Lawedrau crossing over for her second try in the match.

Replacement hooker Vilisi Vakaloloma then scored two tries in the space of two minutes to seal the victory.

Fijiana hooker Pasemaca Buadromo received a yellow card in the first half.

The PNG women’s team only scored two tries in the match through fullback Joanne Lagona and number 8 Debbie Kaore.

Speaking after the match, winning Fijiana captain Leilani Burnes says the win was an historic moment for all Fijian women.

The Fijiana 15's team will now take their place alongside two Asian teams in the final qualifying event for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 in Hong Kong next month.

The top two sides from this tournament will complete the 12 team line up the World Cup, which runs from 9th to 26th August.
