Vodafone Flying Fijians coach John McKee believes the establishment of a Super Rugby franchise in Fiji would allow the country to translate their success on the sevens stage into the 15‑a‑side format.
While speaking to the Telegraph, Mckee says with the talented athletes Fiji has, Fiji would be right up there if they had a Super Rugby team.
He says from a national coaching perspective to have our players playing in Super Rugby would be hugely beneficial for the national team because the windows fit in with the test match windows.
Team captain Akapusi Qera also says that a Super Rugby franchise would help to keep local talent within the country and it would bring professionalism to the islands.
Meanwhile, the Vodafone Flying Fijians will play England at 3.30am this Sunday.
In other autumn tests on Sunday, All Blacks will face Ireland at 6.30am, France will play Australia at 9am, Italy will take on South Africa at 3am while Tonga will play USA at 4am.
