The Vodafone Fiji women’s national football team has defeated Singapore 3‑1 to kick off their Tri‑Nations FIFA Women’s International Friendly series in style in Vanuatu.
The Marika Rodu coached side took an early lead through Cema Nasau but their Asian opponents managed to level the scores at the final stages of the first half.
Midway through the second half midfielder Luisa Tamanitoakula gave Fiji the lead once again before grabbing her second in the 91st minute to seal her side’s 3‑1 victory.
Rodu says they will go back to the drawing board and iron out their mistakes before coming against Vanuatu next Monday.
