Fiji will soon have 26 local swimming coaches with internationally recognised accreditation as qualified swimming instructors.
Fiji Swimming General Manager David Dugucanavanua says that this is made possible through a three day workshop by FINA which is Fiji Swimming’s international governing body.
Dugucanavanua says that the FINA Coaches Certification Program will enable Fiji Swimming coaches with their newly attained accreditation will be able to conduct swimming clinics in Fiji and anywhere in the world.
He says that Fiji Swimming prioritizes the upskilling of their coaches to be able to provide the swimming community whether they be from clubs, school or general public with quality coaching that is aligned to international standards.
Duguca-navanua says that Fiji swimming is looking to extend school swimming programs which will also require teachers to be part of this learning process and they hope that this will increase the number of people who are knowledgeable about water safety and drowning prevention.
The FINA Coaches Certification Program will conclude tomorrow.
