The Fiji Rugby Union has today announced that it will be sending a national team to participate in the 2018 Brisbane Global Rugby Tens competition which will be held at Suncorp Stadium on the 9th and the 10th of February next year.
Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor says the inclusion of a Fiji Team to international tournaments such as this is another great achievement and milestone for the Fiji Rugby Union and rugby in Fiji.
He adds that this tournament will also create pathways and our inclusion gives our local players yet another opportunity to be exposed to international competition especially after our inclusion in the NRC competition.
Fiji’s inclusion comes after negotiations between FRU led by the Chairman of the Board and Duco Events.
The Brisbane Global Tens competition will feature five new Australian and New Zealand Super Rugby teams with four other teams from around the world to be invited each year.
The 2018 competition sees Fiji making up the fourth invited team joining Samoa, French giants Pau and Japan’s Panasonic Wild Knights.
This year’s tournament was won by the Chiefs who defeated the Crusaders 12-7 in the final.
