Fiji netball team to Pacific Games named

“We are ready.”

These were the words of Netball Fiji Coach Kate Carpenter as she announced the names of the 12 players that have been selected for the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.

The players include Afa Rusivakula, Taraima Rara Mitchell, Unaisi Rauluni, Maria Lutua (VC), Sera Dakuitoga, Raijeli Daveua, Alesi Waqa, Matila Waqanidrola, Mere Neiliko (C), Alisi Naqiri, Episaki Kahatoka and Losalini Tuifagalele.

The non‑travelling reserves are Nina Cirikisuva, Vaiti Waqatabu and Sereana Marani.

Carpenter says the Pacific Games is just as important as the Netball World Cup and they are aiming to get the Gold medal again.

Fiji beat Samoa 62‑47 in the final of the 2007 South Pacific Games.

Captain, Mere Neiliko, Alesi Waqa, Taraima Mitchell and Matila Waqanidrola played for Fiji in the 2007 games.
